One small action can make a world of difference! Our TFCU Young Professionals organized a coloring book drive to support the Child Life Program at the El Paso Children’s Hospital and collected more than 7,000 items in less than one month. The program focuses on the psychosocial, emotional, and developmental needs of children and the impact that hospitalization can have on patients and families. The patients are their number one priority and they are constantly finding ways to make hospitalization as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
Carolyn Williams, the Volunteer Corps. Program Manager, expressed the need for coloring books, pencils, markers, etc., and our Young Professionals got to work. In a few weeks TFCU departments participated in a friendly fundraising competition, to see which team could raise the most items for the El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation coloring book drive. Teams raffled off goodies, sold treats including pan dulce, chips, hot dog lunches and aguas frescas. Three weeks later TFCU collected 7,000 items to help brighten up the young patients’ day.
